Details of the promotion is contained in a Nigerian Army memo endorsed by GAT Ochigbano, a significant general, and solely got by PREMIUM TIMES. The memo is referred to; AHQ MS/G1/300/252/2.

“Therefore, the Army Council has affirmed the promotion of the underlisted officials to the position of major general, brigadier general, colonel and lieutenant colonel with impact from dates appeared against their names,” the memo peruses to a limited extent.

 

The promotion list contains 39 brigadier general who were elevated to the position of major general while 97 colonels were moved to the position of brigadier general.

 

Also, 105 lieutenant colonels were promoted colonel while 180 majors became lieutenant colonels.

Nonetheless, the recently promoted officials are barred from utilizing their new positions until they are officially improved.

 

The instruction reads; “Officials won’t wear their new ranks until they are officially decorated by their commandants. The promotion will be declared in the Army Orders and Federal Government Gazette at the appointed time.

 

“If you don’t mind note that the data contained in this report must not be recreated in any way, shape or form or condition without response to the Army central command, Department of Military Secretary.”

 

Among the recipients of the mass promotion is a colonel and previous officer of the Nigerian Army 5 Brigade, Gubio, Borno State, I.A. Ajose, whose command fell to Boko Haram terrorists on August 10, 2019.

Mr. Ajose, close by others, were in September 2019 removed from the battlefront over the assault which caused the deficiency of a few soldiers and an enormous amount of weapons, which were trucked away by the insurgents.

 

Two significant officers, B.A Akinroluyo and CG Musa, who were the theater authorities of Operation Lafiya Dole and Sector 3 Operation Lafiya Dole individually, were additionally removed and shipped off the preparation and regulation base camp as a type of discipline.
